I agree with you there. I wouldn't subject someone else to something that I personally can't stand. I've been blocking them with Mozilla and Opera for over a year now. However, I notice that in IE, even hotmail.com opens a pop-under. I wonder what MS will do about that.Originally posted by JDog

I pop one window with an ad to one of my other sites and only one ad. I get a CTR of 32%, why the hell would i want to make the 68% of people that leave my site without clicking my pop happy?? I do not agree with programs that pop 4 and 5 windows, but 1 or 2 is fine by me.Originally posted by Elli

Ok, I don't mind one popup, but this industry has proven time and time again that it can't and won't regulate itself, and its members love to break the rules. So the rotten apples have spoiled it for the rest of the barrel. So the responsible advertisers are getting screwed due to the overzealousness of some other advertisers. Ah well. 2.0.102 DOES popup from that lightspeed page. But it blocks every other popup I've encountered. Must have something to do with the way the js is called in there.
I guarantee the microsoft version will be tighter than that.
I don't see how the web can continue to function as it is without popups... Think beyond porn sites: many js menus, regular links, flash sites, java applets, document pages, audio stream pages, etc are fundamentally designed to open a new browser window.
I hear you guys bragging about "other ways to popup" but microsoft isn't going to put some shitty script blocker on top of existing browsers, its going to block the fucking window call. No getting around that.

the LS popup is popped in frames. Not exactly sure how it's done, but it definitely has something to do with frames.
I am not too worried about the popup blocker from M$... there's gonna be tons of exploits to find ways around it. The regular JS methods probably just won't work anymore.Comment
