I LOVE this new CD. It seriously kicks ass.
Got to see Queensryche/Dream Theater play the final show of their tour back in August. OMG. I left a wet seat, I swear. It thoroughly enraptured and drained me. I had a hard time walking outta there (laugh all you want, I'm serious) without leaning on my friend Marty for support.
Incredible, awesome group.

It's funny, the song "The Mirror" on Awake was one of my favs, and I always got upset with each new album when they didn't have a song comparable to it.. then this comes out, blew me right teh fuck away. Next time they hti Quebec city I am cruising up tos ee them for sure now!Comment

yeah man, I always cry during the scenes from new york dvd. It's either his voice or the power in the music, but damn, i get all sniffy nosed
especialy on "FInaly Free" ... it's so tragic. during the shots fired and near the end of the song when Mike goes nuts on the drums my heart just starts pounding and shit. Such an adrenaline rush!Comment

The new album is alright/poor,
I don't think it's even close to as good as Awake, but this album is at least better then Six Degrees of Utter Crapulence.
The music is heavy, but seriously, Petrucci and Portnoy need to stop trying to produce the album themselves and bring in someone who knows what they are doing...
What pisses me off the most is them masking Labrie's voice in all those FX, and then writing those vocal melodies over the weird time signature stuff, it just doesn't work.
And once again Kevin Shirley mixes DT like shit... I wish that Petrucci and Portnoy would get off Shirley's nuts, I mean so what if he mixed Rush, that was like 20 years ago.
Eh, After Six Degrees and Train of Thought I am starting to lose my faith in Dream Theater, it's ok though, I have advanced so much musically because of them already, I can let go.
SFAM ROCKS MY FACE!!!
