    Sponsor Hosted Galleries question

Do you guys think having SHGs in data pipe format (text files) will make it MUCH EASIER for you guys to plug the hundreds if not thousands of SHGs to your TGP management scripts?

Yes, and descriptions too. All sponsors should write them...

        fucking A!

but it would be nice to be able to edit the txt format - some scripts want a | and some want a , and maybe some are just fucking easier to put a SQL insert shit in front of it

            Good point re thumb previews.

Another possibly nice addition: A multi keyword search system. Let's niche TGPs zero in on galleries that are relevant to their traffic. Beats the current method of manually clicking each link to view content.

One other idea: a link download counter. Similar to that used by Adultbouncer which tells webmasters how many times a certain movie set has been used. Simiarly, a counter system for SHGs allow TGP owners to make better decisions re overexposed sets. This information can help them set rotation %s that is inverse to the exposure of a particular gallery. This also has the unintended beneficial consequence of forcing sponsors to constantly add new SHGs.

Damn er, straight... its a pain in the rear sometimes to have to cut and paste sometimes...

Also, some sponsors need to be providing more than just one gallery per site and calling that a SHG!!!

Those random autorotating SHG links are a problem since you don't know what gallery series they contain. These are probably good for really vague category descriptions ie., "Amateur" "Babe" etc etc. Doesn't provide enough information to a surfer to actually want to click the link.

I understand the reasons for why sponsors do this though. Less work while providing diverse updated content. It works in some situations and won't work in others--totally depends on how your TGP/EGP (Email Gallery Post) is configured.

ok.... so basically, you want to host the html file on your server but the content on theirs? and if your already opening the text and editing it, why dont you make your own description, that way its YOURS, not everyone who uses that sponsor...
SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.

That's actually a good idea! What I had in mind was more along the lines of a shopping cart system where the sponsor offers SHGs that already have short text descriptions. The webmaster runs a search for galleries that match his niche requirements, he checks the shopping cart ordering system and gets a text file in DATA PIPE format.

This format has a short text description along with the URL links that has his ref ID. Since most tgp management scripts use data pipe formats, this info can easily be ported over. Less work and more diverse content. Very niche specific as well.
