As far as the most powerful, it's constantly changing like everything else, and it's no where easy to determine. If we're going to associate power with dollars, then a lot of the most powerful people are behind the scenes.
If you want to provide that the most influential people have the most traffic, or have the biggest following, or the most webmasters contributing to them...then that brings up a different group of people.
And like everything else, where are you really going to draw the lines between adult and mainstream? Like was mentioned above, some of the people making the most cash or that have made the most cash in the past, are in borderline industries...or in areas considered main stream.
ISPs
3rd party processors
CC card companies
Software providers
Hardware providers
R&D all over the world
Google
Domestic and Foreign govts.
They have all been pretty influential as to the progress and direction of the industry.
I know I took it too far, but it's a pretty tough call as to say who has the most power..
