    still shopping for a camcorder

    looking to spend upto about $800 or so?

    tossed between digital, and mini dvd

    any recomendations?

          i dont know ANYTHING about this shit, thats why i havent bought yet.

          none of my friends or family got any good stuff, they buy all cheap shit. And they dont know anything about these.

          everytime i ask on here i dont get much feedback.

          searching web just drives me nuts :/

              Tell ya what. Since you are tossed between digital and mini dvd....How about if you post links to the digital and mini dvd cameras that you are tossed between. Then I will be happy to offer you some feedback about the two different formats.

                          want to buy this spot for cheap? it is of course for sale. long term deals are always the best bet. brand0n/ at/ a o l dot commies.

                              pulled these off the site, they all looked pretty good and i may have considered buying one of them. Any reason why i wouldnt buy a particular one, or that i would buy a particular one?

                              or what should i be looking for?

                              i would like ease of use, id like it to be extremely easy to get onto my PC and edit as well as pick stills from video. I would like still picture capability built in.

                              and id like a good stabilizer incase i shake while zoomed way in.

                                  i will be using it mostly for home use, nothing professional.

                                  lots of babies around here which is why i would like to be able to pull still pictures off a video and make images from it. But i guess i can get software for this right?

                                  so i guess my only concern is getting a decent machine thats easy to use, and is easy enough to get the vid onto the pc.

                                                      Make up your mind. Either you want a digital video camera or you want a digital still camera. Which is more important to you?

                                                      Any digital video camera that costs only $800 is not going to give you a decent still shot to print. Hell...a $3000 digital video camera won't do that even using the photo option with a memory stick let alone a screen cap.

                                                      EXAMPLE: Here is a screen cap taken from a Sony VX2000 digital video camera. It looks ok at best on the monitor but I would be embarrassed to print a pic of this quality for a photo album.

                                                                                  At the time for me this was perfect to take pix and make movies, super easy to use and load video on to your pc.
                                                                                  and the fact that its 1.5megapixel can still give you a decent pic when shooting.
                                                                                  Grabbing stills from your vid will be hard like aaron said and prolly wont even come close to making a decent printed picture.
                                                                                  btw that picture doesnt do anything for that cam at all, weird angle and all.
                                                                                  its really a nice piece when your looking at it and its very compact and has lots of features including steady shot and night time vision, ie: paris hilton style videos lol
