I'll take the apple anytime. Better to know pain than to be stoned for the rest of my life I say.

People have been trying to decipher the first 4-5 books of the old testament for years...
Isaac Newton spent his last 30 years learning hebrew to work on what he thought was the "bible code"

who said it was?
the Bible never tells us what kind of fruit the tree of knowledge bears. If anything, it was more likely apricots, pomegranates, or figs than apples. (Adam and Eve will use fig leaves to hide their nakedness at Genesis 3: 7; thus the expression "to cover with a fig leaf.")

Or alphabet, it can be cracked.
Hmm.. If you're gonna decipher something, it's best if you read it first..
Nowhere is 'apple' mentioned..
And (unrelated to Genesis).. Mary was originally referred to as 'amah' .. which has several definitions such as maiden, house maid, wet nurse.. among others.. but nowhere was 'virgin' included in the definition..
The 'virgin' deal replaced 'amah' by someone thinkin that 'virgin' would have more impact apparently...
and when i said 'apple' it was just a variable, it can even be a tomato!
The story has been changed so many times, it doesnt really matter, the point is it was never a fruit.
The Tree of Knowledge was not a fruit tree.
Anyway, im out today, this is an old thread that got bumped, not in Theology mode today.
Read this:
"There is rich literature called Aggadah, legendary material, that comments on these early chapters of Genesis. The Aggadah asks similar questions and provides many different answers. Some answers are funny, some are ironic, and some are even a little insulting to women (but remember they were written at the time of ancient Rome, not today!).
Most modern Rabbis look at these early Biblical texts not as accurate data or real history, but rather as a perspective of what is expected of us by our Creator.
One Aggadata or Midrash suggests that if God has used (instead of the rib) the toe, Eve would have been a run-around. Likewise, if God had used (instead of the rib) an elbow, then Eve would "bend the elbow" and drink too much.
Why the apple? Well, many other fruits are suggested, including the tomato! In ancient lore the apple had various meanings and were a tempting love fruit with possible sexual overtones. "
Jews are generally fascinated with numbers. Of course there is an amazing amount of research into it. Encrypting and formulas and such. It's really freaky.
