fucking bullshit moms! what would you do?!!

ok I am 21 still living at home but moving out by next summer. my gf and I have been together 6 months now. she goes to college during the week so has her own house 60 miles away where she goes to school with her roomates.

She works down by me and her mom lives 5 minutes from me. She comes down every friday and goes back up sunday night. so 2 nights a week or when she has no school she is down by me but living in her moms house.

Her mom has this fucking rule that she cant spend the night at my house because she is still under "my roof". My parents think its bullshit. they would love if she stayed the night and dont mind that we sleep together. its going to happen no matter what.

So do we just have to tough it out until I have my own place and she is going to move in with me or tell her mom off!? because she is 20 years old!

I think its absolute bullshit! her mom cant control her forever! Her mom told me the other day she does not like seeing us hug in front of her. WTF!?

she is allowing her mother to control her. why i don't know, probably always been that way but im sure the mother sees you as someone who is going to take time away from their mother daughter relationship. also im willing to bet the mom is divorced or single.

Dear abby,
im 20.... I dont really live with my parents I get about half of the house... 1 large living room, a kitchen, a storage type room and a large upstairs bedroom all seperated from my parents side of the house. I know its lame to live "with" your parents. But I never see them (unless IM leeching food) and they charge me $40 a fuckign week!!!!! I feel like a loser but damn IM saving so much fucking money.

I felt this was a good thread to vent my frustration. I hope you can help me abby.

Thats exactly what I think. I was going through the same shit when I first dated my gf. her mom was divorced so I think her last bit of control was her daughter because she was the youngest and all the other boys had moved out. She was also asked to do a bunch of shit around the house, which I think was just because her mom did not want to do it. We finally got our own place and there was nothing her mom could do about it... which is why she was upset with us for a while. oh well

I would just say, tough it out until you can move out. sucks though.

I said responsible. and a loser boyfriend does not sound responsible to me. I was able to do what ever I wanted when I was 16 years old. all my friends were much older then me and my parents trusted me and all my friends. as long as their is an open relationship and can trust your children. let them do whatever they want within reason.

I really dont think that would ever happen in my family. the way my brothers and sisters were raised I know for a fact we never rebelled against our parents. They have always been cool as long as we had our shit together. its the way I was raised and its the way I am going to raise my kids. The more parents tell their kids not to be able to to something the more kids will rebell against them. which is why I have always had an open relationship with all of my family. I suppose if parents dont spend lots of time with their kids they will never have the kind of relationship I have with my family. I thank my parents all the time for being so helpful and just plain cool!
