    Mainstream SEO Extension question

    Just wondering what the effects of having a different extension other than .com .net or even a .info would have with SE traffic.

    Type ins would be great but I doubt it.

    Anyway let's say for example you design a doorway page for a "gadget."

    gadget.com and all it's variations are taken.

    However buygadget.ws or .info is available.

    Is this domain worth the effort?

      Yes Go for it.Search engines show no discrimination to general tld's like .info and .biz etc.
      They can discriminate against country ones like .com.au depending on where the site is hosted.
      The thing to be careful about is to ensure that the search engines have no penalty on a domain before you buy it.A lot of the com and dot net have all had a previous life so be wary.I buy a lot of .biz domains for search engine purpose as they are usually clean and you can buy them for $5.
