Yes, I know this is all speculation, but it throws up so many questions. Why would Microsoft move away from the x86 architecture? you may ask. Well, for one it has seen so much trouble with people trying (and succeeding) to hack the Xbox and making it function like a standard PC running Linux. Changing the architecture completely will stop this from happening. There is also the deal MS did with ATI for the graphics core. ATI has worked well with IBM as we can see from the GameCube, and may have had a say in where Microsoft should go for its chip.

LOL me too I was just as hooked - I just got an Xbox for my b-day so I have both now - Looks like I'll shell out for the PS3 too - looks like a tight do all machine.

Xbox Next (working title) and PS3 they all will appear around 2005/2006.

Sony will first be pushing their psp (gaming handheld) to compete with the game boy. There are some prototype images of this floating around the net and they us a new dics format thats about the size of a quarter and can hold about 1 gig of data.

Xbox Next will be using IBM Power PC chip, along with ATI graphics card, M$ has also stated that they will be getting into chip design, so we could see a very differnt xbox in the future, ie not based upon the PC architecture.

Game Cube, heh, sorry i cant comment on that one

it will be an intresting next few years. sony tries to compete with game boy advance and any other next gen hand held Ninteno comes out with, M$ will continue to work on the Xbox Next and sony the PS3...

Get a ps2. I've had all three, ps2, gamecube and xbox. PS2 is the best, the others are pieces of crap with the exception of a few good games for the xbox and gamecube.

to be honest i only use my xbox as a media player..

plays back mp3,photos,wma,wmv,vcd,svcd,xvid,divx,shoutcast streams etc.

nothing like it, and it sure beats connecting your pc to your big screen.

Yeh, you use it for SOCOM. My old roomie had it. He had well over 30 PS2 games, only 2 had online play. Gay.

Nintendo accounts for 98% of the handheld market. They won't steal the market from Nintendo, but they'll get their fair share for sure...especially if the final product looks (and performs) like that.

game cube was a marketing failure ..

psp handheld will be prob $299 + but it will do alot more than the average game boy advanced (more multi media stuff)

nintnedo will have a good foothold in the CHEAP handhelds for some time, but with sonys power and force who knows ..

im gonna take a guess that nintendo will start making games for Xbox and ps2/3 and work on their next handheld.

One thing they need to fix is every fucking PS2 and Xbox having problems after 6 months or so reading discs.. then having to ship it out and pay almost as much as you paid for the actual system to get it fixed. They aren't very durable.. and yes I did take good care of mine
