I was one of the first AC affiliates. AC used to be cool, but turned into nothing but mini sites whose member sections had about as many pics as a thumbnail gallery. I was at one site a couple weeks ago that had just 1 single page of pics in its members areas.
Well said KRL. I remember the good old days of AC until things got screwy around 2001.
This change in AC may be a good or bad thing but only time will tell.

What total and utter bullshit... AC has been a haven for the traffic leaches (and they aren't the only AVS guilty of that) ever since someone developed software that could turn out hundreds of sites a day. Several of their biggest webmasters are leeches: this year, just 3 webmasters have accounted for more than 50% all new gold site submissions.Originally posted by south-of-you

Jayeff is right on this one. I've know of him for years. AC did have a huge list of leechers but again AC had a horrible time updating their links in their webmaster's area. They've changed this and that over and over again, some things for the better, some for the worse. Ever since around Jan 2001 I had nothing but problems with them and thought their 'AC Pay' program was a redeeming venture but that turned out to be the worst thing I've done in business ever.
So now that they've decided to do something else radical is on them. Sorry to see a lotta webmasters I've known for years get the wrong end but only time will tell if it's a good thing or a bad thing.
Worth watching over the next few months to see which webmasters stay and fight with them what got the boot.Comment

as a rule we know that 20% of the webmasters produce 80% of the sales. So do we really think that the 200 theykept were the dead wood and did people lose thousands of dollars ijn rebills.
I have no clue on this but did anyone lose that much that you personally know? I get rebills but it is not like they are rebilling at 80% or anything.Comment

That is exactly what I did and it was very quick and easy with so few submissions and since so few domains were involved. I checked 2 months at the beginning of the year and the same again after the 1,000-pic rule came in. There was very little real change in who was doing what, so I doubt the 6 months I missed told a different story.Originally posted by south-of-you

Why? Because during the time I wasn't involved in AVS, site numbers had gone through the roof. I wanted a clue how many sites could conceivably be generating traffic and how many were built just to soak up traffic. That was supposed to tell me which tactic to use myself, although in the event, with all the other crap going on, I stayed away from the whole thing.Comment
