I'm starting to agree with serge , but here's an idea.

selling sigs is a lucrative business, but it is getting out of hand.

my sugestion is this - REGULATE it.

I say lensman turn off all sigs and allow people to purchase sigs ONLY through you.

that way you can easily remove those that post only to get their sig sceen, and take a small profit from the entire sig industry.

do I sell my sig - yes. does it effect my posting habbits - not in the LEAST - i'd post the same with or without my sig, but I'm rare, as I know of many people who sell sigs based on the amout of posts they make a day and even an hour. it's destroying the board.

sigs should be a regulated industry - and people should have the right to CHOOSE what sig they want to promote, but it should all go through a central broker to regulate the buying of sigs and elimination of sig whores or GFY will fall appart in the very near furtue.

I sold my sig for few days then I put back my old one because I didn't want it to affect my posting ... So that's a good way. But turning off sig for everybody ? What about my own sig for my own sites ?

why not just say program owners and their employees can only have sigs. and not anyone else outside the company including you? I like my sig and i have never had a link in it, doesnt mean i dont want to keep it.

I don't mind sigs in the least. I'd rather someone have a 750x100 banner in their sig than to startle the hell out of me with one of those gaping anal photos without warning or something. But I can't turn those off, I could turn sigs off if I wanted to.

I have only my own stuff in my sig, always have, but I think if others want to sell their sigs, that should be their right. Yes, there are alot of people who only post to whore their sig, but sometimes even sig whores post valuable information. I'd hate to lose them all.

Selling your sig is different from whoring it out for 25 cents per post.

When Lars bought the sigs, he did it right. Pick the big, respected posters and flat out pay them. No posting requirements, no incentives to post a pile of useless shit.

Turning off sigs doesn't remove the 50 dumb ass smiley posts from every single thread.
