I am not in the USA, so it costs more where I live...
but here are the prices I paid:

+ NAD C160 PreAmplifier (~ $600 US)
+ NAD C270 Amplifier (~ $750 US)
+ NAD C521i - CdPlayer (~ $550 US)
+NAD C240 Tuner (~ $300 US)
+ Van Der Hul D-102 III Interconnects (~ $300 US)

+ 4 meters (12 feet?) audio cable (~ $80 US)

+ Tannoy Saturn S10 loudspeakers (~1500 US)

Totalled at around $4000 (mind that we deal with Euro here mostly, so in Euro it is cheaper, the weak us$ is a bitch now, and I loose money here)...

With some discount, I got it for $3650 total.

I didn't go the DVD route...everyone is buying DVD surround receivers nowadays and they listen music on them. I went with an old school stereo setup for sheer music listening pleasure

Dude, way to go on Tannoy. They are simply amazing, I have three Tannoy setups in three rooms.

Studio Monitors are the best for clarity and definition.
