What is a fetish???

This is the definition a friend gave me --- an object or bodily part whose real or fantasied presence is psychologically necessary for sexual gratification and that is an object of fixation to the extent that it may interfere with complete sexual expression

I do not have a fetish. I do not think. I am trying to think of one.

So I thought you guys would be the perfect bunch to help define a fetish perfectly. I am finding that it is easy to confuse a fetish and something that just simply is a turn on.

Many people mix up what is and what isn't a fetish. That definition is actually pretty good. A lot of what people throw around as being a fetish is not a fetish. Often they are instead a paraphillia.

A fetish is a paraphillia but not all paraphillias are fetishes ......

In order for something to be a fetish the object of the sexual attraction has to either be an inanimate object, material, or a body part that isn't usually associated with sex (ears, nose, legs)

A paraphillia is a general grouping of 'abnormal' sexual attractions

Exhibitionism is a paraphilla, as is vouyersism and on the more extreme level peodophillia ia a paraphilla

at one point homosexuality was considered to be a paraphillia but it has been removed from the list..though it is still a matter of debate

Fetishes themselves are divided into groups of fetishes - form fetishes, media fetishes and partialism.

Form fetishists, are attracted to an object because of the way it is shaped. High-heeled shoes are an example of an item that is often the focus of a form fetish. Often a person with a form fetish has a particular shape they are attracted to. Hence, someone with a high-heel fetish may in fact have a fetish for a specific make of heel.

Media fetishes occur when the attraction is to the material of which the object is made. Leather, nylon and fur are amongst the more popular media fetishes. So, for a rubber fetishist pleasure could be derived from nearly any object as long as it was made from rubber.

partialism is the term used when the object of the fetish is a body part that isn?t normally viewed as a sexual object. So, whilst a person with an overwhelming attraction to breasts wouldn?t be considered to have a fetish a person with the same level of attraction to noses or toes would. Foot fetishists are perhaps the most familiar form of partialism for most people.

you think I am going to complain about people with a belly fetish? Hell, I thank the lord - or whoever - for them.

To answer your question - no. If you have an overwhelming desire for their stomachs then the fetish found be for that body part. However, there is more than likely a paraphilla that an attraction to a pregnant woman would fall under. It does have to be more that a mere attraction though.

I mean, I have a strong attraction to latina BBWs BUT I don't need someone I am with to fit that description in order to be turned on.
