Way to go, man. I don't understand these people who buy animals from stores and breeders when there are so many out there waiting to be taken care of.
Here's a tip, people: just because it cost $2,000 and came with papers doesn't make it a better pet. If that's what it's about to you, you should stick to goldfish.
Yup shelter is the way to go. They are doing a very good job at the local shelter so I also left them a nice donation and I'm probably going to donate some money every month. They don't get any money from the government and solely depend on donations.
I have 2 cats too. One I picked up on the street, when she was about one month or so. She was outside a club, and the people in line to go in was about to step on her . So I gave up going in and brought the cat home.
Spending money on pets is stupid, when there is lots of abandoned animals looking for love....
Good job! Got 2 from the shelter a few years ago and they're totally awesome. I just need to stop them fighting about once a day because they cannot really stand each other even though they're sisters.
Just in case that one of them turns out to have a little psycho problem from the past, i.e. peeing on the floor now and then, do not punish them in any way, such as stiffing their nose into it like some morons recommend. Actually tell them "well done, good cat" and it'll go away in no time. No shit!
Luckily they accepted the new litter box right away...that was my main concern. They were also very good during the first night. The curtains were still hanging in the morning
Yeah I think they both adjusted well. The silver cat took a little longer...first he always ran away but today when I took a nap he jumped on the bed and slept at my feet I think it's because he is only 2 years old so he is still a little shy. The other one is 4 years old according to the vet.
cats are really adorable, i have 11 at my old place and they are such nice pets to have around. we have dogs also, but there's really no comparison between the two. each has their own distinctive characteristics. but for me, i love having them.
Most shelters will vaccinate animals as a precaution. My cats have been checked by the vet, vaccinated and castrated...pretty much everything taken care of.

what about their claws?
Hope you dont have any leather couches lol....first thing that fucked up when we brought the cat home...
Congrats! Shelter is the way to. So many pet stars came from shelters and its wonderful when they get adopted out.
You rock, and may your new kids bring you joy, wake your ass up at 5AM for a feeding, want to rub your leg when your about to leave the house and wearing black pants, knock over and break your 100 year vase, rip the bows off packages, swat the toilet paper down the hallways in appreciation of this new found toy.
If your real lucky they may let you sleep in THEIR bed because you know it is THEIR house, you just make the payments.
Congrats! I have cats too and would not trade them for the world, well...at least not today :-))))

Hey Brad!
When you get them from a shelter, most of the time they will have worms if they are kittens. Just a heads up. Make sure you take the kitty to a vet right away to take care of the prob. Just my
Would love for you to share some pics once you pick one!
