    Alcohol and drug abuse

I was just wondering how many of you have alcohol and drug problems. I have just started attending Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.

I feel fucking awesome. For the last 12 years I have been an addict but the last two weeks I have got my life back. It has changed my life. I am a better person and I am actually finding it really easy to be nice to people!

Productivity is through the roof. What usually took me a week takes 10 minutes. If you think you may have a problem drop me an email and I will put you in contact with the people I am hooked up with.

If anyone is in London and want to hook up and go to meetings together then drop me an email david @ kube.us

Congrats man. It's a bit difficult in the beginning but it only gets easier as time goes by. One word of advice; it's ok to say no to peer preasure.

                    Krome,

Glad to hear it. I fought with alcohol abuse for years and just recently got myself back to a level playing field. Part of abuse or rather one instigator is depression and anxiety. You may want to talk with a doc on meds that allow you to eliminate depression and mitigate the cravings for substances.

I'm always glad to see posts of personal achievment over adversity rather than most of the other crap that shows up.

Keep it up and email me if you need a positive word.

                    Best,

Peer pressure is how I am finding out who my true friends are. Most of them know what I am doing and I still get an arsehole who says "go on just have one pint of beer it wont hurt".....Yes it will one pint turns into a serious piss up for me as I cant stop.

I used to drink alcohol every day when I was about 17 to 18 yrs. I had a depression and still has but I dont drink as much as I use too.
But it feels alot better when I do.

You're a better man that I am. When I was trying to lay off the sauce I figured I needed to do it gradually. I gave in to people who said "just one and then we'll go home". Right; the next thing I remember was waking up from a blackout the next morning. You are definately on the right track doing much better then I was doing. I'm in total control now so I imaging you will be too. Congrats and keep up the good work; life is much more fun sober

Yeah everyone is different with beer... I noticed that fraternity types will play peerpressure headgames with each other like this -- it's pretty sick if you ask me -- no respect.

I battled drugs for years not in the addictive sense just cause i liked to party as i got older though i found myself not really wanting to do them anymore. I still dabble occasionaly on the weekend but its far and few in between the drinking is what gets me when I start ill drink all night but if i dont have a drink it doesnt bother me. But anyway man GOOD LUCK and CONGRATULATIONS I hope you keep it up

this might sound incredibly stupid but i am too lazy to get addicted to anything

i smoked cigs for like two years straight 8-10th grade and then i like quit because i was too lazy to buy them

ill still smoke occasionally and ill go on kicks but like i feel no addiction

i also used to do a lot of drugs but then i got too lazy and quit those too

i need to write a book about how laziness saved my life

Congratulations Krome... recognition and the willingness to see this thru are key elements in overcoming the problem....

Get used to the fact that your 'circle of friends' will change.... those that have not fought the sickness are clueless about how to deal with it, and subsequentially fade away....

Those that are REALLY friends, see you thru, help you avoid situations you will find uncomfortable, and are there to talk...

Take things a day, then a week, then a month, at a time.... it's amazing now simple life can become without alcohol... ;-)

I used to go to meetings with my boyfriend and found them very inspiring even though I don't have an abuse problem. Meetings are GREAT. They really help you focus and work toward your goals...no matter what they are. If you ever need to vent just let it out on here and you'll have lots of supporters to talk to. Best of luck!
