This might seem like a good analogy on the face of it, but it really doesn't hold up under any kind of logical scrutiny. First off, it essentially assigns poverty as the cause of all murders in DC, which is complete hogwash, as many murders are accounted for by "crimes of passion", conflicts between rival drug dealers/gangs (who, while exploiting poverty, are not generally impoverished themselves), and a host of other factors. Personally, I think both of those "wars" are nothing more than smokescreens and lip service, designed to make it look like politicians have an actual plan in mind for dealing with social ills that are far too complex to be dealt with by the sort of simplistic, catchphrase-laden rhetorical exercises that the legislative and executive branches foist upon us, whenever the media sticks a microphone in front of their faces.
Fortuntately for Coulter, I think this was more of a joke than a serious analogy... I hope so, for her sake, anyway.
