I got a cousin like that. He was always a military nut as a kid and used to pretend he was Patton when we played army together, but he only did a brief tour in the air force behind the desk type of job and then served in the civil air patrol. Now he promoted himself to the rank of General, cause he belongs to some state militia, and has the whole uniform with stars and medals looking like he's chairman of the joint chiefs. He even wore his General's uniform to his wedding.
He's got all sorts of war medals but most of them he bought at military memorabilia shows. At his house he plays that marching band music all the time like they do at washington military ceremonies instead of regular music.

It would not have made a bit of of difference to the recue team if they thought they knew with almost 100% certainty that they would not face any resistence. It is not bullshit. Disability is rated by how dibilitating ones injuries are...it is as simple as that. Nothing else comes into play. The older one becomes...the injuries sustained may become even more diblitating...and one can apply to have the percentage increased. I left the military with a 40% disability but because of the dibilitating nature of the injuries with age...I have been upgraded to 100%.Originally posted by The Dawg

I was saying that the coverage that John Q. Public saw was staged.. The media neglected to say that there was no resistance in the hospital.. They neglected to say that the doctors gave them easy access..

Mmm.. you got there before me! Lynch was a "tool" for yet another load of pathetic propaganda - and I have no doubt she is still serving that purpose.
An odd non-ocurrance a short while back was that she did not agree to meet with her "rescuer" when he travelled from Iraq to the US. The guy wanted to meet her, but she was "not available".
There is more to all this shit than we know - I suspect almost all of the "story" is a lie. Even the docs who attended her in hospital had never heard of this "rescuer" until they read it in the media!
In the middle of this crap, Miss Lynch has suffered on the "war front" and although she has clearly been manipluated - that is no discredit to her.
I'm amazed they never leaked that her limbs were amputated after she was raped, sodomized, stabbed and shot - but wait, there is time yet! (It was claimed that Saddam baked babies in furnaces the desert in the Gulf War till it was admitted this "story" cost $6m in fees to ad agency in New York).
Miss Lynch is a war casualty in the same way there are 1000's more war casualties - many not even particpating in any "war". Her vehicle cashed into the one in front. If that makes her a "hero", I need some medal as well! Still more propaganda

I coudn't agree more. My grandfather fought in WW2, and landed on Juno beach. He was wounded twice. When I was little, I would ask him, "How many germans did you kill?", and he'd always just frown and chage the subject. Then one day, he said, "16". I was shocked. My grandpa, the guy that would take me anywhere I wanted to go, the nicest guy ever, had killed sixteen Germans.
I asked him if he was a hero once, and he replied, "No, I'm not a hero, I survived, I made it home. On Juno, my friend Roger who I'd known for 2 years jumped on a grenade that would have otherwise killed us both... He was the hero", "people may think we're all heros, and some of us would agree, but I wouldn't be around to be a 'hero' if it wasnt for Roger... He had a wife and a daughter, and just like that, he was killed, instantly."
My point? Hero's are people that do something great, something extraordinary, like Roger on Juno beach. Hero's aren't people that get captured and raped.
How many women have been raped in wartime? To many to count. The only reason Lynch is being hailed as a hero is because they needed to take the attention away from the fact that Sadam is still no-where to be found, there's still no weapons of mass destruction, and there's still no real valid reason as to why Iraq was invaded.
The initial reason given for the invasion was "to get rid of sadam and his weapons of mass destruction". It was reported this morning that it was the Washinton Post that broke the initial story about Jessica Lynch...with all of the hype of being shot...knifed...and fighting fiercly etc....based upon "sources" and not the government...and other media then reported the same BS. It is the media that hypes/sensationalizes...and exploits stories...that is what they do to atrract viewers/readers.
