for people that earn a living from sites on those domains, I would think reliability, good customer service, good reputation, and solid customer base would mean more than saving a couple a bucks per year .. just my 2cents

It's horses for courses...

If you have 2,000 domains each earning $50 /PA, you should buy ultra-cheap domains and spread them over several registrars to minimize risks. Whereas if you have 1 domain earning $100,000/PA you should use the registrar which offers the best services regardless of the cost.
