I didn't check the models you were thinking about buying ...
But I've owned MANY cameras as I got guys taking pictures in clubs almost every night (and spill beer on it, let them fall on the floor etc).
And the only thing I can tell you is that sony got very easy to undertand menus and I never have problem with them breaking down or nothing
