So the responses all surround one perception: fighers are violent. I think that's one of the biggest misconceptions of that career. In fact, the reality fighters I trained with, some that I even faught with, and I have absolutely no desire to pick fights. Why would we? That's just for insecure wantabees that think they have something to prove or try to make themselves look better. i.e. bullies. Most real fighters get more than enough opportunity to throw down in the ring or training without having to resort to some stupid Bantam rooster display.

The power of the martial arts should be in difusing a situation. There's a karate maxim that states "if you have to fight, you've already lost." Just last weekend I walked up on 3 big guys picking on this little bartender. A freakin 3-on-1 fight! I calmly stepped in and informed the guys that if this went down it really *wouldn't* be 3-on-1 fight, because I couldn't sideline it while 3 guys beat up one smaller dude. Just not cool. They backed off and everything was fine.

And basschick, I agree that the most important things to a woman is confidence and a sense of humor. The reason Steven Tyler and other rock stars still get chicks is because he's a celebrity and has an aura of confidence about him, stemming from his confidence in his musical abilities. However, from personal experience, what women say they respond to and what they actually do respond to is vastly different.

I was also supposed to be in the Shidokan tournament that airs on ESPN all the time, but I broke my foot in training and had to withdraw from that one and never got back around to it. I stopped fighting when I met a girl in England, fell in love, and moved to London to be with her...

You fought in the IFC? MMA? You have to pardon my questions, I've run into alot of ppl lately who say they have fought MMA/NHB, which is pretty easy to check.

ModelPerfect, when i was younger, i thought steven tyler was gorgeous and sexy, and i would have thought so if he was a plumber or a hairdresser. he's thin, his hair is nice, his smile is warm, and he's outgoing without seeming crass. however he is in his personal life, that is very nice.

trained fighters aside, most men that use the fighting thing to impress women are more likely to be violent. i have a friend who's a musician and into ultimate fighting. he is very mellow, but then he also doesn't use his fighting as a bargaining chip to get pussy.

Cool beans, I'll be there. I train at the Gracie Academy. I've did my first grappling tourney about 3 months ago, came in second. No thoughts yet about MMA. But it's always there.
