How was that image done? That's kinda weird how it shifts... and it's not two different images that I can tell... that chick has fucking HUGE nipples...
yea I'd like to know what they are doing this type of effect.. the Begining of the series on HBO, Carville uses an effect something like this.. Same with the History Channel, they use it alot.
I was thinking it's done by using 3d programs like 3dsmax or Maya.. by cutting up the images in Photoshop and adding billboards in a 3d style world.. then using the camera to move around..

do you do that with two cameras, side by side, and take a pic of something at the same time on both cameras, so that you get a left and right image, and then just put the images in an animated gif?

That is in fact how it is done. Check out their Website. You'll also see the two images separate from eachother. Kind of a fucked up Website though. I believe it's some kind of cult.

That is true, but you can tell by looking at the pictures.. I bet they have a very simple installation with two camera's attached to a bar or something. These people don't look very high tech.
