Back up everything important now.

Depending on the size of your current drive you could do this easier than burning discs...

Since hard drives have gotten much bigger and cheaper the past couple/few years chances are you can buy a new hard drive that is much larger than the one you currently have. Install it as your main drive and install Windows and your other software.

Then, disconnect the IDE and power cables from your CD ROM and plug them into the old hard drive (you'll probably have to move the jumper pin on the old hard drive to slave). When you reboot the computer you can then browse the old drive and copy and move all of your important stuff over to the new drive.

Only took me losing my first hard drive to forever have a backup plan from then on
