Is it too late for a new webmaster?

Is it to late for a new webmaster to get into the business, or a new webgirl?

Is it pretty near impossible to become one of the industry leaders at this point?

I mean, could someone start tomorrow... start building sites, galleries... what ever... and make a lot of money and gain themselves a porn empire in this business still?

Or is it pretty much just not going to happen any more?

I think if you work hard you can still do it. It helps if you can come up with unique ideas too.

its the same in any biz, if you have new, good ideas and know the market you are targetting. Also know how to target that market how can you fail?

Webgirls are always needed because time/tastes/ and boredom take over and the old ones are not interesting anymore. Always room for fresh talent. Same as webmasters - if you got a great idea and niche - go for it and you will set yourself apart.

Is it pretty near impossible to become one of the industry leaders at this point?

Who cares about being an industry leader?? there are many forms of leaders in this industry based on their talents. Once again if you got a great idea and niche - you will be a leader in that field.

I mean, could someone start tomorrow... start building sites, galleries... what ever... and make a lot of money and gain themselves a porn empire in this business still?

Yes and no - if that someone has industry knowledge and connections you could start a site and succeed, you need traffic and a good promo - without it - your rise will be slow. There are alot of good examples of that in the industry of newbies taking a smart idea and as long as they arent stupid and greedy - stay strong and are well respected.

You can make money in this industry even now, if you have a strong, unique concept. In addition you have the capitol to stay afloat long enough to properly market and launch the idea!

                      I'll go apply right away

Anyway, yes.... capitol goes a long way I guess.

But what if you're just a regular joe schmo who doesn't have the capitol to be investing? One of the things i heard most during the whole Visa fiasco is that it'll clear out a lot of the little guys.

The hurdles a newbie has to go through these days are enormous compared to yesteryear.

I think if you find something highly erotic and sexual, you will always have a good business because well sex sells better than most other products....if you make a good income for yourself, doesn't matter if you aren't the biggest

I think there is a HUGE chance at becoming a success in this industry. It is still in its infancy, there is an unbelievable amount of room for improvement and innovation.

Just like any other business, you need a good idea and some $$ to back it up. Yes, there is still money to be made making galleries and such, but you won't become a quajillionaire or an industry leader by doing so.

There is still lots of room for webmasters to make a comfortable living with just doing typical galleries etc. IMO.

I was wondering who'd be the first to spam my thread....

Anyway, I often think to myself that I do have some original ideas, and have done some... and are doing ok with them.

But just how much better would I be doing if I had implemented them around 5 or 6 years ago?

People have been saying this shit since '99.

I remember back in '99 reading some posts about starting a new tgp. Back then people got the same response they get now which is "It's too late", "starting a new tgp is a waste of time", "You can't compete with the big sites" and so on. Didn't sleazydream.com start around that time? I hear he's doing okay Don't forget all the sites that were big back then and are nothing now. Where do you think all that traffic went.? Not to mention all the new people online.

Of course there's still money for newbies. Of course it's not to late to start.

The adult net is still under 10 years old people!!

Anyway, I was just kidding. Newbies shouldn't start any sites. I need more money

How many industry leaders are in the biz now that started after 99?

I think if a webmaster comes along with a unique idea, they can make it. Starting a typical TGP will likely get traffic and sales, but it takes a lot more to succeed these days. Creativity and unique ideas will make a new webmaster succeed.

One of the things i heard most during the whole Visa fiasco is that it'll clear out a lot of the little guys.
                                                              Bullshit propaganda and fear combination.

And who gives a fuck about industry leaders - there are none - we have no leaders only people that make the most $$ and no one is public about it anyways blah blah blah.

You can get into this biz TODAY and build to $250,000/yr from your home with no employees and barely any work.

If you want to go bigger and make more you need to take on more responsibility and bullshit etc USUALLY...

So there is no reason you couldn't step from that to the next level.

This is all possible if you have the knowledge, and actually do the work required.

This business is not rocket science - the primary objective is to get traffic - the rest is pretty easy.

The traffic quality changes and shifts etc etc - the smart business owner works the pumped traffic and builds his residual traffic base.

Traffic is 80% of the puzzle imo - content and design/marketing are the other 20%

The adult net is still under 10 years old people!!

who is this person ?? your absolutely right my honey been doing this bizz since 97/98 he says its always been the same shit , webmasters telling the newbies to get lost , there's no money $$ to be made truthfully he said its just to discourage anyone he said there's tons of $$ still to be made difficult but can be done ......

This is back when people were saying "sure, you can start a paysite, but you'll never be as big as maxcash". Well, I haven't seen any numbers, but at the same time, I'm not blind. Maxcash is not what they use to be and there are bangbus copy cat sites everywhere.
So, the reality site explosion is ONE thing that came after '99.

He's THE man for traffic sales all becuase he had one idea, worked hard on it and kept expanding it.

Many don't even want to have anything to do with you if you can't give them something in return. But, if you work at it and get those right contacts who are willing to help you get started then anything is possible. I'm always looking for that by the way. It's all about directing your time to the most positive chances of succeeding and that means work. My best content, links and friends are not those who send the most traffic. It's from those who work at what they do and make it worth the time for visitors to click through to their sites or links. It takes a bunch to tango.

Andy from the sexswap newsletter did a survery about two years ago on the average porn income, and surprisingly, about 15% of webmasters made over 15k a year in porn. 5% made more than $40k. Most webmasters made less than $15k a year.. this is not an easy business by any stretch of the imagination.
