Bigger programs, per signup. Smaller, less known and more unique, recurring.
The big programs are big on upsells, crosssells, and exit sales, and mailer sales. They add all that into their per signup to make a profit. If you chose recurring with them, you won't get credit for those, and won't make as much money as per signup.
The smaller programs don't mass mail ppl who have to enter their email to hit the join page, don't have as many consoles, and typically their members areas aren't just trying to upsell things and full of "plugins". People will typically stay longer at something unique then someone that is "cookie cutter".
