Ireland vs. Australia. What a game!

I knew this game was going to be a great one. I've been waiting for this one since the cup started, and it didn't dissapoint! Wow. So close. My jaw dropped and i was up on my feet when Humphries went for that drop goal. Missed by this _ much, i swear to fucking god.

Unfortunately, this means Ireland will be playing France in the quarter finals, which will be substantially more difficult than Scotland, who they'd be playing if they won.

Ireland did waste a few try scoring oppurtunities out wide. But damn, what an exciting game. Their lineouts were excellent. I can't believe they were able to steal Australia's ball so often.

Looking forward to the quarter finals. Go the emerald green!

I don't know about that. Samoa gave England a run for their money, and that was pretty much their top team that they fielded. And the score against South Africa wasn't really indicitave of how the game went. They're not quite as hot as people were predicting they would be.

In my opinion.. top runners are England, New Zealand and South Africa. Now that South Africa are using Hougaard as their starting flyhalf, they're playing a lot better. And his kicking is spot on right now.

You've obviously never seen Gaelic Football played. That international rules stuff is bollocks. There are no marks in Gaelic football. You catch the ball, and some guy is going to shoulder you in the face by the time you hit the ground. It's very physical.

The only complaint i saw from the Irish in that international rules thing was that Australian player that just punched the Irish guy in the face 3 times as he was leaving the field, for no apparent reason.

okay so get your bets in:

                                  australia vs scotland

                                  +

                                  ireland vs france

I think there could be an upset here
and the french could have a game on their hands.

am I delusional or do ya think it could happen ?

There's no doubt that Australia will beat Scotland, in my mind. The Scottish will play their hearts out. It'll be a very physical game. But Australia will come out on top, by quite a margin, i imagine.

Ireland and France.. that's a different story. Ireland are in incredible form. If they play like they did against Australia, an upset could very well be on the cards. I wouldn't be either way. It's going to be one hell of a game though.

                                      hey chodadog

yep, I agree totally, after tonight's game with AU v IRE,
and I watched the whole game, the irish are a tough bunch,
like a really tough team with lots of guts and determination.
They only lost tonight by a fieldgoal.
Against France, if they get the early points, I think
they may break the French spirit if it's early and constant.

                                      Go those greenies bigtime

wales 4 points ahead. ive got money on wales with a 51.5 start so im safe but it would have been nice to have a few $ on them on the win paying 34/1

The Wales - NZ game....WOW! Until 10 mins from then end it looked like Wales would pull it off. The NZ guys were starting to get majorly pissed and very physical. Mind you - a Welsh guy or two managed to smack some NZ players in the mouth without the ref seeing. Great game.

Stick by my guns though - England to win it.

You've got to be kidding me.

Samoa were hammering England for most of the game, and i believe the only reason South Africa lost was because of a bunch of mistakes by one player, who is now benched. England will most likely make it to the finals, 'cause their lineup of possible matches is substantially easier than New Zealand, Australia and South Africa are going to have to deal with.

The New Zealand vs Wales game was amazing.

That's the first time i've seen a tackler check on a player as he got up before he went for the ball. I reckon he might have been scared he'd killed the little guy. He had a smile on his face when he got up though, so it couldn't have been too bad. And i do believe he kicked over a couple of penalties after that. But yeah, best tackle of the world cup so far.

If they had of lost that match, they would have met New Zealand in the quarter finals. Something i'm sure they wanted to avoid.

We gave them a lot of possession. If you give that side too much possession, they will make you pay. I?m glad we didn?t underestimate them. We had a very, very strong side, and we needed it to win the game. Well done to Samoa, they played a great game. It was great work by our guys to stick in it.?

He kicked 100% of his penalties and conversions, and knocked over 2 dropgoals from 2 attempts. Pretty fuckin' good game if you ask me. He did seem to have trouble finding touch from time to time, but i'd hardly call that a bad game. He only missed his first kick of the world cup against Samoa.

So basically, he cost them 19 points. The game was a lot closer than the score would have you believe.

They absolutely carved up Samoa in the last 20 minutes of the game, and Hougaard's kicking is Wilkinson-like so far. They're going to be very competitive in the knockout rounds.

But South Africa playing with Hougaard is a very different team to South Africa playing with Koen and quite frankly, you'd be a fool to base South Africa's coming performances on those games. The scrumhalf and the flyhalf are the playmakers in the team. Van der Westhuizen is playing better than he has in years, and Koen has been nothing short of shit. Hougaard just makes it possible for the back line to perform as well as they should be able to.

South Africa are a bunch of racist thugs who will implode under their own inner fighting... plus we destroyed them the last two times that we played them. The only teams that can touch us are France and New zealand both of whom we have beaten recently. England will win the final against New Zealand but it will be tough.
