Shooting content in house

Wondering if anyone knows if there are any legal issues with
filming porn in a house or apartment? More specifically
with a house or apartment in the Vancouver area?

We've been looking for some commercial space to rent
out here but almost building owners we've dealt
with so far are not interested in leasing to pornographers.

So I'm wondering if its legal to shoot in one's house, or
perhaps a rented house?

I don't think there are any laws that prevent shooting porn in your house. I see lots of pornographers shooting their content in their homes.

Why tell them you shoot porn? Tell them you're a freelance photographer and you want to setup a studio.

I post on GFY so that when people ask me what I do,
I can tell them that I work with the mentally retarded.

rent a cheap motel and don't tell anyone.

seriously.. alot of content i see looks like it was shot at a $20 a night motel.

It's not illegal just make sure of a few things like:

1). Check your areas laws on how far you have to be from a school or church. Here in Indiana we have to be 500 feet from a schhol or church.

2). Make sure no kids are present when you shoot and don't shoot like someone I know from canada that runs a content biz who shoots in his kids bedrooms and beds while they are gone for the weekend, he is a sick fuck for doing so.

3). What we did was setup up our basement which was 1400+ sq feet with a shoot scenarios and had the models enter through a side door in our garage which lead right down into the basement, this way no models ever actually entered out home and it kept the law from coming down on us because I do have kids and could only shoot when they were in school or after they went to bed.

Just a few things to look into

I agree. City ordinances can be a serious pain in the a**. In some places just shooting softcore nudes with only 1 model can questionably violate local obscenity laws.

I considered doing this..but decided in the end that I didn't
want to risk getting booted out of place if they later
found out what we do. I'd rather be up front and find
a place that will accept me for the dirty pornographer that

We've rented houses and warehouses...and always ask the landlord right up front if they are "porn friendly". We've never got 'no' for an answer yet.

that stood out in the article is:

Was it the fact that you were filming in the house that was
a problem or that there were other business activities going
on in the house apart from the shooting?

There are standard Location Releases that might need to be filled as far as I know.

Generally, I don't think anyone will go after you - even if you shoot in a motel. Granted there isn't a line of strippers leading to your door ;-)
