Okay, the friend who called me was a little confused. Fortunately my TiVo was on the right channel. FOX LA just did a story on the evil of people being rebilled for access to websites. Their lead-in was how Gotti and the Gambinos etc. partnered with Crescent to put sites on the web and then charge people who thought they were getting free access -- I believe this was the big Playgirl etc. flap that probably you all remember. With totally no segue FOX switched to how Experian acts like it is going to give you a free credit report but really is going to charge you eighty bones if you don't read the fine print. It was a pretty funny segment where they had the Experian rep with the signup form projected on an entire WALL and you could still only kinda read the part where it said you would be rebilled.

As Experian financed an entertainment site which used to jack my stuff all the time, it would have really pleased me if they were implicated in the other, so I get why my friend called me asap. I don't know why FOX made it seem like the stories were basically the same. They seemed to be implying a connection, but they definitely did not actually overtly state one.

Apparently FOX LA thinks that is practically organized crime and only evil mobster pornographers would do such a thing. I just really like evil mobster pornographers, so . . .
