Complicated quesiton for all you TGP gurus - Newbies dont even attempt to answer.

Ok here goes:
I am planning to redo a multi cateogry site (like boneprone.com) to a thumb preview site (like jpeg4free.com).
Reason: I believe there is more money in thumb sites.
The site is currently 100-150k daily with bout 10-15k bookmarks (hard to measure bookmarks exactly).

My question for you experts is:

If I redo the site into a 1 page thumb layout should 1) I kill all the old trades and put up new thumb trades only or 2) set the old trades on a ratio of 0.5, squeeze as much traffic as I can from them and let them die on their own or 3) just keep them while adding new trades?

Also what skim to use? 50% to grow fast or should I go with 85% and feed for a while to gain evne more bookmarks?

I'd keep your current trades especialy if they are text link tgps. The productivity on your end will be amazing. However, on their end it will bomb out. So get new thumb tgp trades to compliment these and let the text link tgp trades die off naturaly.

Umm, why not get a new domain, start a NEW site with the thumbs style layout, and use your existing site as a traffic pump to get it going? Then you can form up NEW trades, without taking away from your existing product.

I thought bout that but its a bad idea. Because it would require a lot of work, feeder, and I cant simply use this as a traffic pump. I would like to redo the site because I have seen other sites been redone and they are quite big at the moment.

If you really want to go that way, like others have said: keep your existing trades. Some may even survive.

But you might want to ask whether the traffic that either multi-category sites or thumb preview sites can generate is reflected in $$$. I believe that the "traditional" style TGP - done right - still produces the best ROI.

Then again, we must be about due for another model: the thumb previews only had what, a year's run before the multi-category type appeared. And it seems like a lot of the recent success stories have had a lot more to do with buying traffic than with building it.
