I usually pick shades..
as in GREEN then I use various shades of green.. and throw in some white or black here and there since white and black work with most colors..

I always try to throw in some plaid red with alternating brown & yellow stripes on all of my pages. color iz important!

i always use purple, green, and yellow.

Depends on the site! My break down is like this:
Teen: Lighter colors! Things like a light blue, or pink
Amateur: Blue mostly or maybe some darker colors
Latina: Black or brown tones
Fetish: Black and dark colors
Asian: I use tan or a midtone green
My text is either black or white so there is no mixing of any color I use.

Yes I do. I try to match the color in the pics I choose for content. I try to match the banners as well. I also like the color of my fonts to match as well. Basically I like everything to be color coordinated. It makes for a pleasant looking site. IMO!
I'm a girl though, I like everything to match, and sometimes things that do not match, match!

The last site my wife and I put together we tried to use a top advertiser colors....McDonalds lol Plus when we to Florida we saw billboards all over the freakin place about WE BUY UGLY HOUSES they really stuck out and made you remember.

yeah deerub has a point. Usually a most memorable thing is either something really good or something REALLY bad.
when it comes to colors, depending on the niche of the site, it can be pink and pretty and black and deathly looking. If its a sweetie type teen site, then pink/white/baby blues/violets. if its a BDSM site, then any color associated with pain would get the winning ticket.
