Maybe the fact is their lawyers suggest settlement now instead of paying way more in the end?

i was under the impression if a sponsor settles, then they cannot go for your affiliates, otherwise its double dipping.

sounds to me more like... give us your affiliates, you won't have to pay a dime, which makes it that much sleazier.
