no, he talked a lot about that tonight. When he first brought up doing Fletch again with Universal they really didn't want Chase but Smith did because he wanted it to be a continuation. Thenhe met Chase and he was a bit of a prick to him but wanted to do the role.
Then in between he did Dogma and stuff and the project got dropped by universal. He was contacted by the guy that wrote all the books and basiclly offered all the rights to all the books. He was with Mirmax now and brought it up to Harvey (got to love first name basiss stuff) who got onthe phone and made the deal in 5 hours which he said was the fastest deal in Miramax history or something.
Anyway, the selling point to the studio would be that the were prequel stories based onthe book and as such wouldn't involve Chase at all. Even the studios don't want to see him back.
