Conceptually it's a little bit interesting but the realism doesn't seem part of the concept -- it looks a lot like an student's homework... perspective is off in some places... like at the top of the ladder... and I can tell it's not intentional either... In other words this artist is showing his weakness in elementary areas so it's difficult to give it the chance to engage conceptually -- use of the brush looks pretty weak except in the floor... It doesn't seem like he's addressing composition either...Comment

In all fairness i'd need to see it up close to look at the color and brush strokes -- if there are any... It's not bad, but I wouldn't expect this guy to be famous or anything...Comment

The "oh now I get it" factor doesn't (for me at least) really transcend the monotony of looking at the painting... But like somebody else said this might look nice on your wall if you can get the painting to respond to some colors or element in your house... My place has a lot of wood -- a neutral painting like that -- that doesn't really ask for a lot of attention would be nice to have in a chill environment... I could imagine that painting would look good in a Starbucks maybe hehe and sometimes I really like to chill in Starbucks...Comment

Well TheFly...nice catch on the ladder. If you look at the reflection of the top step (in the mirror), you can see the light coming down on the step. However, the ladder itself does not have it. Just made me take the time and really look at what's going on. Which I think is pretty cool....

yeah it took me a minute to realize those were mirrors and not windows.
it's a melancholy piece of art, empty rooms,houses and buildings are sad, because you know there were lives lived inside of those walls - this looks like an office in an old building in a city that has seen better daysI moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. I did a similar ladder drawing in my first year of drawing class... Most people like it just because it looks very realistic -- and the usualy response is, "no... did you really draw that?" -- personally when i look at the drawing -- i just see a ladder in an empty studio that was the assignment...
If you look at Picasso's real early stuff you'll see he started out doing realism too...Comment

I don't really like people to see my real early stuff -- because that stuff could come back to haunt you... Most of my crappy drawings are long gone in a dumpster... I only sell, trade or give away paintings that I wouldn't mind in a museum someday...
