For most women the correct answer is "No, honey,of course you don't look fat." Any other answer will get you in trouble. Women almost ask for men to lie to them.
Not me! Personally, I don't ask questions that I don't want to know the answer to. If I ever did ask that question, I would expect brutal honesty.
