A Plus Dot Net - LEAVE ME ALONE?

I'm literally getting a phone call per domain I order (ordered 3 domains yesturday, just got 3 calls from 3 different reps).
I asked how they got my information, and they responded with "public records."

I asked if it was simply from a whois, and they said "no, public information we're provided with".

I asked if I could get access to those same public records, and they responded "no, it's a propietary sort of software."

Are these guys able to legally use whois information (I ASSUME that's where they get it from) to solicit sales for their service? It's getting quite annoying.

Any similar experiences? Or ideas about this?

If its not a whois dump what could it be?

Seems to me you basically have three choices:
1). Sue them for something so you can subpoena how they got your contact info.
2). Go psycho on the next rep who calls you so they make a note in their files never to call you again.
      3). Ignore it.

Put them on hold next time they call and wait until they give up waiting. Rack up that bill of theirs...

Yup, same here actually...failed to mention that in the first post.

I'm going to keep questioning the reps to get information out of them, but eventually I'll go off the deepend. I'm not going to put them on hold cause I have my cell phone as the number...would burn up all my minutes.
