Sounds like she was playing both of you so I say she deserved it. Yes it might have hurt him and his family more than her, (and if this is so, she is heartless), but sometimes brutal honesty is the only thing that works. Women can sometimes talk to "the other" women and figure out their man is a snake... but men can't do it without thumping each other's heads in.
I'd say you did the best possible thing... now walk away and don't look back.
