Premiers tonight at 9pm EST on CBC's "The Fifth Estate" which is a major newsmagazine show in Canada similar to 60 minutes:

"On September 11, 2001, pilotless airplanes were guided into the World Trade Center by homing beacons. It wasn't a plane that hit the Pentagon, but a missile. U.S. Air Force planes weren't scrambled to intercept the hijacked planes that morning because the White House was behind the events of that tragic day. Incredible? Definitely. Outlandish? Absolutely. But, there are lots of people who believe that at least some parts of these stories are true.

In a special season premiere investigation the fifth estate's Bob McKeown finds that even the most outlandish conspiracy theory may have its basis in a legitimate question. In the course of separating fact from fiction, Bob delves into the labyrinthine and surprising ties between the Bushes and the Bin Ladens. Not surprising at all that most of the first responders to this thread entirely missed the point, in typical non-thinking fashion.

I will spell it out for you. This is the most important part of the blurb:

"Bob McKeown finds that even the most outlandish conspiracy theory may have its basis in a legitimate question. What he finds out may startle you as much as any conspiracy theory."

Get it? Of course wild theories that planes were remote controlled ARE OUTLANDISH as are theories that a missle hit the pentagon. The point the news show appears to make is that under these so-called conspiracy theories lies a grain of truth. And that grain of truth involves the business ties between the Bush and Bin Laden families. Those business ties are a fact - they are not theory.

I am sure the program will detail other facts that will be pertinent to any investigation of 9-11, including glaring inconsitencies in the government's own conspiracy theory - that 13 arab hijackers (6 of whom the FBI now admits may still be alive because they were never on the planes to begin with) crashed planes into the WTC using box cutters. Don't forget that the US government itself is pushing a conspiracy theory of its own - a theory that has never been proven and that has glaring holes. The fact that mainstream journalists are FINALLY asking serious questions about all this is a breath of fresh air. They are only two years behind Wonton but better late than never.

And how do you know this? Because a Bin Laden family spokesman came out and announced that to the global media? Do you think if they shared his views that they would have said that?

Comparing the British monarchy to the US presidency is comparing apples and oranges. The royal courts of europe purposefully cross-married through many generations to form various alliances and to avoid wars. Therefore, it was totally expected that at any one time you would have relatives in power in different countries.

The US presidency, on the other hand, is an elected office. It is NOT a monarchy. And it is NOT supposed to form hidden alliances with enemies of the US - not now, not ever!

I remember visiting in Canada and watching that network, and couldn't believe how hostile it was to business. I half expected there to be a show called "Make the Rich Pay"

They also seemed to have these tv show interludes on the Woodchuck, Canadian moose, and beavers.......
