Jesus.. thats awful.. is there any airline delays from smog or anything like that? It looks like its starting to get pretty bad.. and theres not a whole lot of wind there right now is there?
It's much worse than those pictures show. It smells like a giant ashtray and I can't even see the strip from my house (I live "in the hills" and I've never had a problem seeing the strip). Supposedly it's only going to get worse tomorrow.
Is it clearing up in California yet? Once again...I'd hate to be there and my sympathy goes out to any and all who have had to go through these horrible fires first hand.

Yeh plus all the airborne soot particles get all over your cars for weeks afterwards.
the air is the worst part. a couple of weeks in, and people start to get really sick. total fire ban, most hiking trails closed, can't see fuck all. yeah, it sucks bad. of course it didn't rain for 3 fucking months... was a fucked up summer.

The problem with California is you have dried out trees, hot air, hardly any rain, and horrendously rugged terrain that is very difficult to firefight in effectively.
It can go on until it burns itself out in some areas where they just can't get in there to fight it.
I remember one time back in the 80's being in Vegas when one of those sandstorms they have out in the desert came through.
If you've never been in one of those its an experience from hell. The blowing sand can literally take the paint off your car. And if you're walking your whole face gets this stinging sensation.

Don't forget the nuts who won't allow the clearing of dead trees and brush that feed fires, who won't allow people to clear firebreaks, who won't allow controlled burns to avoid this type of situation...
If they'd let the firefighters, loggers, and property owners do their job, things would NOT be this bad.
You guys are weak... try living in the center of the fire front ;)
Hehehe.... no problem man...
Im going to SEMA AUTOSHOW, so I dont mind the air problem.
Have rent an room at www.luxor.com
So that will be juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuust nice....
That's pretty bad. Looks like my city, except for the hotels, casinos, hookers.... ah...well the air quality seems similar...

It's been my experience that wind usually blows off the water and onto the land, making the wind blowing east over California. It has to do with the temperature change of the terrain the air is traveling over, and some other stuff.
