norman, are you saying that jaYMan also changed his info as you say lil2rich did? and as upset as you are - and who wouldn't be? - are you certain lil2rich did? do you have a way to check the date the info was last changed? we have heard from a fair amount of people who feel that the info matrix has is unique to matrix. mine wasn't unique, but only a couple places have it that way, and matrix is one of them.

all problems between you aside, this is important. if your database was stolen in some way, it might be a lot more important than these other issues. if you could find that lil2rich and jaYMan did NOT change their info, you have a case and can stop that info being used. plus you should report that theft to the law and to the fbi immediately.

good luck with the fires - the valley is sure getting more than its share of smoke, but plenty is still making it here to hollywood.

And about Matrix, why would so many people who buy matrix content just all wake up the same day and decide lets all slander matrix?

I agree I should report it, but I have no proof. If I could get at least 25 matches to our database I would. I would love nothing more. Trust me I have my suspicions, but I need proof of the thief first. I sat in my office Monday till the sheriff kicked me out of our office because of the fire waiting for the calls. To think I was worried my phone system would be overloaded. I think if anyone who feels their information came from our data it would be worth a call.

After reading this long thread, any one can see the frustration
from both sides.
But now is the time to lay down your anger and those that have proof to call MC so he can do something about it.

Just coming here and saying you have proof is not good enough, to many people get caught up in threads like this and post bull shit... The man has asked you to call him and prove your match to the data base. hell im sure if you ICQed him and gave him your no# he would call you.

The way i see it now is if you are not calling or ICQing him you dont have proof or you altered it.
This is a fight against acacia, not webmasters against webmasters.. calm down and look at this objectively and help him get them. After all every notch in our belt against acacia is a plus.

Does Matrix make its custom list available to third parties in any form - i.e. sell their list to partners?

Is it possible that Acacia was able to obtain customer information using methods other than theft or settlement?

If so, it is possible that a partner company who licensed this information rolled?

To be honest, I don't think Norman knowingly released info. But you never know if one of his employees might have unwittingly or for money.

Got to remember the money trail. It always is the source of the evil doers. Acacia has millions at stake here. When there is that much money on the table people don't always make wise decisions to accomplish their objectives.

This is kind of what I was saying before... And lynching Matrix isn't going to make the fact go away that Acacia is using ALL KINDS of databases from ALL KINDS of sources to pin people. No matter what happened here, Matrix isn't the only signee, but they are one of the only ones who came forward... That should stand in their favor, I would think. Norm is taking a fuck of a lot of heat here that he wouldn't feel the need to take if he was out and out lying.

It's easy to see why people are doing it, and the sense of betrayal is huge, I can understand that. But until anyone has DEFINITIVE PROOF that Matrix is not a victim like everyone else in this, cursing at them, threatening their business, etc isn't going to make the situation go away. There's two options here. People can work together, or they can run around screaming and pointing fingers at each other.

If Acacia is doing this to our industry, tearing it apart from the inside, causing mistrust, contention and the chaos we're seeing now, their battle is already 3/4 won for them. I have to agree with Squirtit here... It's extremely important to see the BIG picture.

NLB, I'm giving you the benefit of doubt here.

Here are my facts, now I will admit they would not hold up in a court of law on their own. But as part of a group I'm sure it would help.

I allways use my correct personal info when signing up for something to do with my new business venture in Adult. This means my contact info is all the same, Name, address, e-mail and so on.

But the 1 very major diffrence in my contact info at Matix is the use of a single domain name. I have around 50 domain names, I have never used this 1 name anywhere but matrix content. It is the only name I ever listed at Matrix content, because I've never bought a thing from you, so I never updated my info at your store. I used this name to view your online store and that's all it never has been a website sense I've owned the name.

I called Acacia up on Mon to see what sites I own that are in violation of their claimed patents. The only domain they have on me is this single domain, and therefore this 1 single name was the reason I recived a letter from Acacia. Not because Acacia did reseach and found sites that I own, because if they did , they would not have that url being it's a dead one a 404.

Out of 50 names many I've used countless places how come this is the only name they have? Honestly if I belived for one second that My info didn't come from your contact list I'd would have never spent this much time typing. Now you can threatn to sue me or anyone else for what ever you want, you can even stick your head in a hole and pretend not to hear.

But the simple fact is I personally know 100% fact in my mind that Acacia got their information on me from your contact list. Now I want to know what you plan to do about it?

There are laptops to. He can take that cell phone and laptop and hook up to the internet or take that laptop to where ever he went and hooked up to the internet. He said he was waiting by the phone until the sheriff threw him out.

What is happening here should teach people to think before signing with Acacia. Matrix signed and now their trust is at issue here. Their trust went down once they signed. This stuff about the database doesn't help him any further. If you want to stick up for him after he signed up with Acacia and then all this evedince that more in likely his database was used for Acacia to go after more adult companies. That's all great and good. But in war, anybody caught running away from a battle (like against Acacia) can and usually would get shot.

You should be emailing all of your clients letting them know of a possible compromise with your client data.

In my opinion this should have been done back in April when you were contacted about the spam coming to matrix tagged email addresses.

If you really want to be able to do something about this abuse of your customer data, and get your "25 people", then explain to your customers in a mass mailing what may have happened & ask them to review the address information on the Acacia notices they recieved and compare it to their submitted Matrix data looking for any similarities between unique information or typos that were used at Matrix.

How bad do you really want to get to the bottom of this?

Will you email your customers asking for help?

Or is this just a GFY-only thing?

I don't believe Acaicia would use a list not obtained through proper channels, they would have too much to loose. Just like we would have to much to loose if we gave it over. The proof against you is enormous and in any courtroom if one of these guys sued you, its your responsibility to prove otherwise that you did nto give the list away, and since you have no idea which one of your employees turned on you, how it was hacked or tellign the truth and saying you gave it to acacia, then I guess you can not prove otherwise. Not a good situation for you.

As for me, I don't give a hairy ass fuck who you give my info to, because acacia would have contacted me regardless, because I am a content producer/broker. So do as you wish slander is not a prisonable offense and its very hard to prove, and with some of the webmasters on this board I doubt you would get blood out of turnip (wouldn't by sueing me), so if you wish to spend $5000+ proving someone slandered you or your company to get a whole $100 out of their wallet, have fun doing it.

I've read all the posts - and I think onlymovies made a good point .

FYI I haven't received anything yet, but I'm expecting it. From the ones that have settled and it's out in the open, your company would be the only one that I have an account with.

What I'd like to know is:

1) Who sends out your promotional emails?
2) Where is this data kept (your servers or theirs)?
3) Have you ever done a promotional 'mailing' snail mail?
4) If yes, what company and what data was given?
5) What was your arrangement with the company, could they use this data for their benefit?

From the proof shown in the posts, I'd say it's your data.
Whatever way they got it, if you did not authorize the use of it, whoever sold it to them did so illegally. They most likely knew it was illegal - they don't sound like the honest church-going, hard-working folks.

Let's face it, this will hurt your business - I for one, who doesn't buy much content - have bought with 3 companies in 4 years - 90% was spent with your company - Unless I see you take a stand, for your rights, the future of your company or baby, as you so put it, and the rights of your customers & 'passersby' of your shop (who've never purchased anything but had to give you the info anyway) and who's info was compromised - I will not spend a penny at your store ever again - I'm just some dust on the keyboard, but I'm sure the big guys are seeing it the same way-whether their information has been compromised 'no doubt about it' from Matrix or not. If you don't do anything....it doesn't look like you appreciate our business......big or small.

For your company to get through this crisis, you have to stand up for yourself & the people putting the bread & butter on your table. Remember, their intent (AC) was to assfuck you before you settled - we just pay you for your hard work.

I think everyone would appreciate answers not threats and most certainly, no half-answered responses.

We can't help you help yourself if you aren't frank 100% of the possibilites and what can be done to track the exact course these lists obviously took. 'I don't know' just doesn't cut it.

My experience coupled with the experience of all of the other webmasters that have come forward is more than enough to convince me that Matrix is the culprit. The behavior of Matrix towards webmasters who have had their privacy violated and been betrayed is just more proof of guilt, as far as I'm concerned.

Regarding the DMCA explanation that has been offered: I have to wonder why the "DMCA Department" would have my Matrix registration info. I never bought anything, I only registered (under a unique pseudonym) to look around at the content there.

Here's some more shit to wonder about- Is the mysterious DMCA Department actually APIC?

Here's my story.

Today october 30th on the Island of Nanaimo, I received a letter send to JMan ;-)

It was sent to the xtremepay.com office where I work and It came from Acacia.

About 1 month or so ago. I was shopping for stills of guys with big dick for our big dick pills. Yeah we are mainstream herbal drugs company.

Was also lookinf for girls but all stills.

I had to sign up for an account at matrix.

Yup, just got the ACACIA crap in mail today. I went through all the content and sponsor accounts and only one matched the address, name and company name.

It's no fun anymore to let you guess who it is as it's obvious, MATRIX willingly or not provided their customer info to ACACIA.

So here I am with a letter from ACACIA even though I never bought anything form MATRIX....and never will.

We got a letter from Acacia and it was "attention: Tera"

Tera used to be in charge of Content Acquisiton for my company before she headed up Pornprofit and bought much content from the Norman.

I don't know if that's enough proof, just add it to the list.

Did Matrix get voted off the island yet?

I am also sure that Matrix database was used. Also, one of my partners recieved a letter and he is a programmer. He only registered once at Matrix and never bought anything and recieved a letter to what was old and unique address info from that time he registered. Not proof of anything... but when looked at within the context of the total number of people claiming the same thing, i would say it is certainly consistent with the only plausible scenario that has been put forth by webmasters.

There is just too much circumstantial evidence pointing to the same source. Not to 5 possible sources or 10... but to one.

I am sure Norman is a great guy and i dont doubt that for a second but if info was gave willingly or not, there should also be accountabilty for what happened not denial and argument.

That is the ONLY reasons his business is being hurt right now.

the official statment seemed to be that they didnt sell their list, and all these dozens of claims arent solid enough proof their list is being used. And that they had a person come in and analyzed that their system wasnt hacked.

And various other spin and bs.

My personal opinion is matrix isnt bad people, but got doublecrossed in some way and got caught with their pants down. The way they have handled has been bad though.

Ever notice that pretty much everything added to the Constitution after the original was a mistake.

The latest is that Matrix are still sellout fucks, won't stand up here on GFY or anywhere else except for hide behind some newsletters from avn and ynot and such and the assholes are hopefully closing up shop and filing bankruptcy because they are gonna have still pay acacia and won't be getting 80% of the sales they used to get.
