Las Vegas covered with dense smoke

Damn you California!!

Woke up this morning to head to the office and it smells like burning wood. Step outside and the entire valley is covered in smoke, I couldn't even see the strip.

Get to the office, which is less then a mile away from the strip and I can just barely make out the outlines of the casinos.

I guess the wind changed overnight and blew all this crap in from Cali.

The air quality in Vegas is already terrible... now this

That's a toss up there... I hate the smell that we have had for the last week!

I am totally sympathetic to everyone in California, my aunt and uncle there have been evacuated and may have lost their home. I even donated a case of water to the water drive here in Vegas yesterday.

The friggin smoke is terrible. It is burning my eyes. I don't want ot even imagine what the floks in Cali are dealing with It is a great disaster. My prayers are with those who are hurting from this.

I've always thought the air quality here was pretty good. But I live up in Summerlin, and its so smoky I cant see the mountains, and I almost live in the mountains. Cant see the stratosphere either.

But it should look pretty neat tonight when all the lights come on, the Luxor will make the sky glow.

Actually I live in Phoenix and it's picking up a haze overhead already today. According to the weather it's going to be worse tomorrow with air quality warnings.

No matter how bad it gets here, it's still going to be nothing compared to socal, and we can only hope that something good happens to help the situation out there as fast as possible.

For whatever reason, lots of people in this thread have taken what I said way too seriously... honestly here it was a mock insult at the fact the smoke blew in from California, not at the people of California.

As I already said, I have family there whose house may be gone now, and I actually took ACTION to try to help the people of California, not just say "I hope this will end soon, I'm sorry to everyone this affects" when I took time out of my day to go down and give a case of water to the water drive.

I hope everybody on this board who lives in Cali is doing OK. This is terrible here, so it must be a million times worse there.

Yeah I can see some glow coming from the strip, but I definately can not see it. I live up in Summerlin too. The air quality up here was good, up until recently;)
