    Matrix Content: THE BAN/BOYCOTT

    Dear Matrix Content,

I am a hard working full time student and full time webmaster. I work hard each month to make sure my real world bills are paid as well as my internet bills. As my business grows, I try to put my money to good use by providing my sites with the best content on the market.

Until this morning I had always felt partial to Matrix Content for their good customer service. And high quality content.

But now it has been brought to my attention that your customer database was given to Acadia and now on top of my day to day bills, I soon had the decision of hiring legal counsel to help me fight acadia or pay their extortion fee as you did. (Minus the giving up of personal info of webmasters I deal with)

    I say to all webmasters...
    Don't shop Matrix...
Don't promote a business that will do this to their customers

Don't give them another of your webmaster dollars
you might need them all to protect yourself in court because of Matrix!

After $1,000+ in purchases this is their reward to me..
    DOWN WITH MATRIX!
    DOWN WITH MATRIX!
    DOWN WITH MATRIX!
SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.

guys lets lay of them a bit I'll admit I've hounded them aswell being I belive my name came from their list but lets atleast give them a few more days to try and right the wrong.

They are one of the biggest content names out there, that should give them a little credit. I'll agree I find it hard to belive they know nothing.. but being they have a company rep to protect I'm willing to give them the binfet of doubt and give them the chance to fix this...

I was just about to really start hammering them with NLB's response about sueing webmasters.. But he did come back and try to save face.. give them a few days and if they don't produce hound them then. You can't expect answers over night for something like this.

All those that signed the license to the rest of us.

Unless they are contributing LARGE to IMPA (on the quiet) I say we avoid all of them. Today and in the future.

Send one of them bankrupt and it will stem the flow of rats.

              Wow gotta love these options...
Matrix gives my address and name to Acadia...
I get sued if I don't pay Acadia
If I say don't shop Matrix, because of what they did...

I can get sued by Mr. Bentley..

On a positive note, Matrix produces some of the finest quality content you can buy.

I truly hope we find out it was not handed over to Acacia and was obtained by some other means.

                        That would really suck.

Assuming Matrix handed the information voluntarily, I would never do business with Matrix.

Assuming Acacia got the Matrix list from another source, I would never do business with Matrix unless they filed some kind of suit against Acacia for breaching customer privacy.

Regardless, they are in a mess at this point and need to take the necessary steps to protect their clients.

Unfortunately, Paul, it's not a perfect world. I know right now why some people are signing.. Beacuse if for some reason they lose, they will be FUCKED for YEARS of back infringement, and for companies grossing millions, that's no small matter. They are trying to preserve their business. Sure, Acacia is extortion to the max, and it SUCKS that people ARE signing, but there IS a reason for it.

It's pretty easy to take the shots when you aren't even subject to them, but in the world of business, sometimes everyone has to do things they don't like.

I don't like the situation any more than anyone else does, but for cripes sakes, why is everyone SO busy fighting internally? Why aren't we staying focused on the real enemy, who is Acacia?
