    Out of state speeding tickets

I just got a speeding ticket outside of the state I have insurance in. A friend of mine told me that if its out of state its just the ticket and no points are added to your license and insurance.

Is this true? Doesn't make much sense to me but hey, it would be nice.
This is my sig. Flashy, huh?

Here is another Rumor...if you obtain a nice speeding ticket for 140.00 and you send it 142.40 The county must send back 2.40 back to you. Don't cash the check. and nothing will happen.

Doesnt Wisconsin demand payment on the spot? It seems to me that you never wanted to speed in that state.

Actually, I heard that same thing, but after getting pulled over earlier this year, I got slapped with a $132 ticket, but I didn't have to pay it on the spot, I was happy about that

Actually, when I got my ticket in Wisconsin, I got a letter in my home state Michigan from the "Secretary Of State", showing that I had points from it. I don't know where you live or if they do the same thing, but I'm sure that nowadays it would get reported in your home state.

HOWEVER, my sister-in-law has worked for an insurance company for many years and she said that for the insurance companies, it costs them money every time they check your record, so they really only do it unless they have to, SO if you don't tell your insurance company OR change anything on your policy, you should be perfectly fine I know that I got my speeding ticket back in January and my insurance company (Progressive) never raised me up.

What happens in one state is not enforceable in another state. The state that has the conviction can ask the state you are in to give you up. For a speeding ticket? No... As for insurance, unless the Deparment of Motor Vehicles in your state is directly connected to the one in the other state, your ticket will not show up in their database so your insurance will have no way of knowing the ticket occured. This is why a child killer can go from state to state killing our children and be pulled over in each one with nobody knowing that the person they just pulled over is wanted for questioning in 34 other states for killing children. Go figure...

Actually, that's not QUITE true. For Misdemeanors and traffic violations, yes, but when someone is pulled over the officer usually checks them through the NCIS (national criminal information system), which will also check for felonies or any federal warrents. (I was a reserve deputy sheriff in Maricopa county AZ for a while a few years ago)

Most states are hooked up now and have been for awhile computers, so if you get a ticket in one it will show up in your state.
