Sorry, no CP here.

Anyway...

I'm secretly funneling all my profits from adult sites in to the music biz. (it's a write off) (I'm a producer/engineer/musician)

My company just finished up a quick 3 song demo to see how this 13 year old girl who fronts a band would work out.

Our development company works with young artists, teaming them up with major producers. We represent a handful of established 4 star music producers.

Since GFY is such a cross section of society, LOL, I thought I'd share this up and coming star with you and get your humble, heh, opinions.

I edited this demo video on a souped up PC running video toaster. I captured home movie footage of her playing in clubs in Chicago, and did my best to make her look rockin.

Kristy Rose and her band have opened up for such bands as "Vince Neil" and "Smashmouth". She also has a full endorsement from Dean Guitars.

I haven't built her a website yet. Only thing up there is the clips. We just started this project.

You'll find hi-speed and low-speed versions of the Kristy demo in Quicktime, Windows Media Player, and Real on the site.

Honest opinions are welcome. Keep in mind this is for a young demographic. And we're trying to bring old school rock back. Hope you like Joan Jett.

Just checked out the vid. In all honnesty, she is just another one hit wonder. Get the girl some guitar lessons.. LOTS of lessons. Dump that band of hers and get her playing something that will last beyond the first 6 months of her stardome. She has that guitar chick (lita ford) look happening. Take advantage of that and put her with a good band after she learns how to play. She may not hit the charts with a bang then, but she will have a loyal following. Sorry, just my honnest opinion as a musician and someone who is sick of MTV one hit wonders.

Due I detect some bitterness? Success in the music biz is not simply about musical ability or image. Just like a band is a team, the team is now song writers, producers, engineers, video directors, etc. etc.

When the team makes a hit, we all win.

The market dictates what it wants to buy. This despite the wants of A&R/Producers like myself. We try to predict trends and hope that it's something we like. I like good old school rock. So that's the direction I steered this project in.

I agree that MTV is littered with image driven artists. But you gotta love it when a 4/4 band with 3 chords breaks and stays. i.e. The Ramones.

What exactly is an image? What you want to see? What is your image of the bands you listen to?

I've done very well with music industry projects and have connects.

However she needs a lot of work to be honest. That song won't cut it for her. Her age is a bit premature yet. I don't think it will be easy promoting a 13 yr old girl for that hardcore genre either.

She's got a good look. She needs guitar lessons. She needs some more voice lessons also. She needs to learn how to vibe her body to the music.

Got potential, the graphics look great, but it won't be easy to pull off in my opinion.

Hire a pop-rock writer, restrict her to power chords, and hire a skilled trained guitarist for supplimental lines. Get a good producer, and have someone else play her parts in the studio. She'll go far. She just needs a well produced video.

I see what you mean about bringing back old-school rock.. that's cool, but just remember it's all gonna sound like pop-rock. With a good management company behind you, it should be pretty easy to get tour-support... if you even care about that..

even if you have money, I reccommend using tour-support/distro as an excuse for building a relationship with one or more major-labels.

I havent even started to drop names in that biz.. way too many..way too much fun was had...

Same here...

Singing lessons for more range in her voice.

Harmony... Melody... It is the simple things... Listen to Metallica and you will hear range. It is not all throat gargle. You will hear the guitar and the singer sharing some harmony for a few bars... You will he Melody here and there. Guitar solo... She needs a drummer who can press out some double base here and there. Once in a while a song needs to have the band shut up and have her crone out something that shows she can sing. Then get everyone to put an ear piece in their ear, and give them a ticker... Does wonders for timing...

Would I support her by letting my 12 year old Avril wanna-be go see her play, sure... But she is not an Avril yet. She still needs work to get there.
