this is definite because the guy told me when he registered for Internext I guess there was a place on the form where they want you to describe/name your company position and he made up some bogus title like head fluffer or some shit, remembers it distinctly, and sure enough whatever the bogus title he made up was, it's on the Acacia mailing he received.I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. I don't think that Internext would give their list to Acacia. It is the most important asset they have as a TradeShow Company. More likely the list came from someone else, who may have purchased or made a deal for their list at some time in the past.
BTW - our Cybernet list is NOT for sale...... or trade, or anything else!Comment

AVN cares more about there REAL customers, the only school porn Giants.... the video and magazine people. The Vivids, the Hustlers, etc.
These are the people who want to run all the Internet Turks out of business.... and AVN is helping!!! They want to see the internet cotnroled by the same few Giants who control the video/magazine traditional porn world!!

There is NO doubt where Acacia got my friend's info from, NONE, ZERO, NADA, ZILCH - unknowingly by making up a phoney title for himself my friend seeded that mailing list. well I just got mine and I didn't go to internext.. I can't say for sure that I didn't fill out any forms on their page.. I can't remember did you have to sgin up to anything to view info about internext?

This was briefly mentioned already but they could have got the information from scanning badges and/or buying a list from someone who was scanning badges.
When you fill out the form to get a badge all information that you give up is given to anyone that leases a badge scanner and pays for the information.
That would be why I have never put any information other than an email addy on there

I worked for a computer parts wholesaler and when I just started, they had just comeback from comdex where they had a booth. I was given a print out of basically ever person that was at the show. I cold called on that list for a couple months, made some good $$ too . I think it was given to them for having a booth , internext maybe the same way or if it is a avn list maybe they sold it. They are a company here to make money, I spoke about this yesterday these adult newstype companies arent news sources they are marketing engines. Its business not personal.Comment

Finally someone who is thinking on his feet. AVN offered scanners to the company I went to internext with last year. All the ID's had a bar code on it and if you wanted to rent the bar code scanner you could get a list of everyone that visited your booth.Originally posted by tony404

Check your ID Badges for internext the bar code is there.
Not saying this is what happened but definetly a good lead on what could have happened.
Problem would be at this point it could have been any vendor there.

handing over lists, nobody thus far knows how Acacia obtained their information. But we can speculate and share opinions between each other.
As I said in earlier posts, my friend only told he where he believed his information came from. Neither he nor I know or have any information how that information then came into Acacia's hands. I questioned him, cross examined him if u will, as to why he was so sure he knew where Acacia's information for him came from. He suggested I tell his story on GFY so other webmasters would know and others might share their information. He is NOT a webmaster, he went to a show in another capacity. I would never say something is a FACT without knowing that fact to be 100% true. Which is why when my ICQ went off and people messaged me 'So you're saying *** gave up webmasters to Acacia, I told them 'No, that's not necessarly so, I didn't say that, there are a bunch of ways Acacia could have got the info.' I am a Supreme Court judge's son, and a brother to another Supreme Court judge, I know the law by osmosis.
This is a discussion board where relevant information to the Adult Internet community is discussed from time to time. I posted at the suggestion of my friend, his story, his opinion where Acacia got the information to contact him, he is a honest as they come, has no grudges to bear against anybody in this industry, but knowing how important this issue is to so many people suggested I share his story by posting it on GFY.I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. I thing Acacia told them that they should not pay anything, if they sign and gave the database info for acacia.
I realy would like the signing companies to scan there signed deals, so we all can read, what deals they have.
