Dear MS, your software is not legal

It's time to let Microsoft or whoever supplies your DMT software that "We" (as in them too) are being sued.

When you bought the software to encode and facilitate this transfer of video, were you told about Acacia's license?

Perhaps if the vendors get a few thousand of these letters, they will feel more involved.

    Dear Microsoft,

I am using Microsoft Streaming Media Server and it has been alledged by Acacia Research that the technology you have sold me is not yours to sell. As a party in this matter, we need to discuss our defense. Please call me regarding this matter.

The fact that they're not seeking a license from microsoft means that MS will basically tell you to go fuck yourself. They don't, and will not care until it actually becomes their problem, which it probably never will.

Don't be so sure. MS is pushing it's Streaming Media Server and this issue will create problems for sales. If the software costs x dollars and Acacia wants y dollars from the user, the user understands that the software now costs x+y=z dollars to use.

Not helpful for sales. Might just be cheaper to squash Acacia while they are a little bug.

microsoft could maybe have some liability issues. a. they sell you software b. using that sofware leads you to get sued for infringement and past earnings.
Ever notice that pretty much everything added to the Constitution after the original was a mistake.

The point here is that if enough of us email and write to MS bitching about them opening us up to this "patent infringement", they won't be as likely to sit back and watch.

Why wouldn't MS just buy them up and own the IP? Its not like MS is hurting for money. They buy tech companies all the time for exactly this reason.
