My friend told me if you use the manual a lot on the car it breaks the transmission. Is that true ?

Generally no, but it depends a lot on what kind of driving you do. Abusive or aggresive shifting wears parts out quicker.Want to promote SUCCUBUS? Click HERE!!!! | Want to buy SUCCUBUS? Click HERE!!!!

I have had it in my cars for years, I have used it about 3 times. I think its just a selling point. I downshift and play with the gears when racing but never with the triptronic.Originally posted by Chaldoray
Do you use it all the time ?Comment

What kind of car is it? Different engines have different power bands, small engines require high reving to move. Big engines have more torque, so they don't need to be reved as high.Originally posted by Chaldoray
the dealer said to shift around 4 or 4.5
Honda S2000 for instance needs to be taken to 7,000 to REALLY move. But a Corvette for instance would only need 2,000 realistically.
As a general rule of thumb, American transmissions go out quickly, along with all the other parts too. Honda's literally will last forever... and I'm not exadurating. My '92 Civic has 220k miles and I drive it fast, but not hard, and it's never had any major problems and runs great to this day.Comment

you can use it it's just a matter of if your gonna beat on it its like any car if you treat the car good and don't jump on the gas and shift real hard its not gonna fuck up the transmission but if you shift normal like 3k-3500 rpms then your not stressing the transmission no breaking of the carGot Cam Models?

If you dont believe it is little, compare its size to a fullsize truck or SUV, or a fullsize sedan. Dont take it as insult. I called it little because its simply not large.Comment

Bottom line is, if it has it built in, its made to be used a lot.
I am just telling you out of my experience, I don't use mine much and I am sure you won't either. just learn the stick shift or get the auto.Comment
