Here's an easy way for us to ban together to bring down ACACIA

This might sound simple... but sit back and think about it...

Everyone who gets a letter from ACACIA... go to your local courthouse and spend the $15 - $35 to file a court suit against ACACIA for extortion...

Ex*tor"tion\, n. [F. extorsion.] 1. The act of extorting; the act or practice of wresting anything from a person by force, by threats, or by any undue exercise of power; undue exaction; overcharge.

If 50 to 100 webmasters do this at once... it would use up all of ACACIA's resources.

What else can we do? Will we win? Maybe. But, even if 1 person wins...then the flood gates are going to open and drown ACACIA.

We have as much power to fight as we want and $15 - $35 court filing fee is all it would take.

Why not take it to them before they come after us?

What have you got to lose? If they win... you'll have to pay anyway.

    Have a nice day...

Your definition is incomplete. In almost all states (maybe all?) extortion is a felony, which is a crime, not a tort. You don't file suit for crimes, you report them and/or file charges.

Maybe we should all files charges?

I'm just trying to get a little alternative brainstorming going... there is something we can do to fight... we just have to find the niche...

I mean, they split up Microsoft for trying to Monopolize their part of the industry and ACACIA seems to be trying to monopolize their part.

Instead of suing... we should all file extortion charges instead... then we are covered against legal fees as the state will sue them if they see fit... and if 100's of webmasters file extortion charges...the states will listen.

I would say all depends on who has to prove what.

I would say they would have to prove that the patent they hold covers what they claim it does. If one judge disagrees they are fucked.

Maybe those CNET articles and the "settle now and enjoy your Holiday" that they included in the package will be enough to sway 1 judge 1 time as to even slight extortion as well as they were willing to "settle" for less in the "sweetheart deal"... then we can all use that in our case file along with anything fightthepatent came up with... could become a rather strong case?

                        Anymore thoughts?
