Actually, couldn't we collectively create many usenet accounts and build a little post/upload bot to just post-bomb the shit out of those CP groups with misleading files containing ******* etc...

Just like the music industry did to Kazaa, make it so annoying that they will stop using the group... ?????

yeah that shit is fucked, i use easynews and i don't go into those groups so i don't know if they delete that shit but the group names are still there... gornyhuys idea sounds like ok recourse but does nothing in the long run. i'd imagine if they shut down those groups they would just start new ones under non suspicious names.

Not much you can do but pressure as many usenet providors to remove the outright CP groups, like the ones with the words preteen in them. Usenet is more widely distributed then the kazaa network. Impossible to regulate. It is left over from before there was web pages, gopher was popular form to surf, archie and veronica were king. Sigh, the good old days.

Its kind of amazing that at least some basic rules aren't on the newsgroups after this much public CP scrutiny.

I'm starting to think the government wants some of this nasty stuff to stay out there so they can track and find out who is into it.

That would be reasonable, but i don´t belief politicians think that way. If i look at the new laws that are in work here in germany my opinion is that they want some of that stuff out there as argument for more wiretapping and surveillance.

Blocking entire groups would not work.. the next thing you know, these sick fuckers would be posting into groups with names like alt.disney or some shit like that.

Pressure needs to be put on ISP's to track down who is posting this shit to their servers, and report the scum to the authorities, and of course, cancel postings originating from their servers.

This should be easy to do, because news articles can be tracked from server to server along the line.

ISP's should be forced to respond to complaints and work along side law enforcement on these matters.
