The monument was built to remember the fallen soldiers and sailors who fought for something they believed in. Back in the day when the entire nation was UNITED, doing everything in its power to help the war effort.
I would much rather be sure that those men who died are well-remembered. I believe that's what this monument is for; to help generations of people remember a time when war was hell, when a country stood united instead of divided, when it wasn't a question of war being right or wrong, but of supporting the troops who had to fight it.
Men died and I thank them for giving themselves to make sure that I would be free, and that future generations would be free of Hitler's regieme. The few surviving WWII veterans are living history. Sit down and talk to some of them and hear what war was really like.

Any WWII veterans post to GFY? They're aren't many of them left these days. My grandpa is still kickin. He gave me some cool WWII stuff when I was a kid I still have. A canteen with strap, a bag for bullets, and some bullet casings. He also gave me a bag full of clay marbles from when he was a kid.Comment
