It absolutely amazed me that we see commecials on TV constantly telling us to "buckle up" and "protect our precious cargo" yet school buses don't have a seat belt mechanism??
Anyone else see the irony in that?

Damn... that is one hell of a hit. Great reminder of how fast you go SMACK in a car wreck.
Just remember that your local school district administrators have only one thing on their minds, and that is how to get as many kids in its classrooms as possible. The schools get paid per attending student (at least that is what I have been told.) Their safety, security and education come second to getting $$$ and paying their own salaries.

That happened one county south of us. All the kids were ok, minor injuries they say...
Bus comes over crest to find a car in their lane, the driver swerved to miss it and went over the ditch, tried to correct to come back over it to the road and the front wheels made it but the rears caught and flipped them over. She is in court for failure to control!!! (I'd say she controlled it pretty well considering the time she had to react!)
Ummm headon or flip? I'd have swerved too! I used to live in that county and some roads have few cars on them, even during the time people go to work... so this car just kept going, re: NO witnesses save one kid who thought they seen the car. (It happened too quick) And what they call a crest can be a serious hill to some of you. ;-)
And y'all would NOT be laughing if that vid showed the bloody hand and foot prints all over the inside of that bus. (I take it the vid you posted didn't show that part) We have seen that tape on just about every commercial break and news since it happened.

When I lived in North Carolina back in 1986 the high school kids drove the buses.. That totally turned me off on buses.. You were always hearing about wrecks..*HUGS*!
