    Anyone from Dominican Republic?

    Or does anyone live there? I want some info on the place.

    The two main things I want to know are:

    Availability/Price of High Speed internet
    Friendliness of the people

                              Never been there personally .. but my hairdresser went last month with 6 people and they all got very very very sick! all caught some virus and had a terrible time not sure what they ate but just be careful if u choose to go there... I also heard theres no nightlight there if you like that.

                                      I have a friend that lives there. From what I remember it was a 2 bedroom, bottom floor, porch area, on the beach, bi-weekly maid service and cleaning, fully furnished, $750 a month. Not sure on internet prices.

                                          I went there a few months ago for a friends wedding. It is definately a third world country. In the main cities I found the people to be agressive with tourists, always trying to sell something.

                                          Once you get into the country side people are very nice, and very polite.

                                          I enjoyed it. Prices were good.

                                          Where I stayed did not have internet, but it was very nice - great view. The name of it was La Catalina Inn - the website is http://www.lacatalina.com

                                                  I went there couple years ago. One of my best holidays ever We stayed at playa dorada beach resort in Puerto Plata. All inclusive hotel, so we just ate, drank, sunbathing etc

                                                          Hi Ross,
                                                          I lived in the Dominican Republic for about a year but it has been a while. The last time I checked into relocating there again you could get high speed internet access in Santo Domingo, which is the capitol city.
                                                          The people are awesome there and you don't have to be fluent in Spanish to get around.
                                                          It is also a very beautiful place with lots of outdoorsey things to do.
